Course Synopsis

The aim of this course is to prepare the students to analyze noise, vibration and harshness in the real field of industries and recommend countermeasure or design improvements for their control. The students will be introduce to the concepts of noise, vibration and harshness, measurement and testing, analyzing and modeling to solve real phenomena of NVH. The students are also to be exposed to the techniques of the attenuation, damping and isolation of noise and vibrations. The students are trained to measure noise and vibrations in given situations and also to identify the course of vibration. At the ends the students need to convey their theoretical as well as practical understanding by determining the comfort criteria for noise and vibration exposure to the human.

By the end of semester, students should be able to:

 

LO1:     Understand and able to explain the importance concepts of noise, and application of it in real field of engineering

LO2:    Measure and apply statistical analysis to evaluate the noise level as well as control measures of noise.

LO3:   Understand and able to explain the importance concept of vibrations and application of it in real field of engineering.

LO4:  Measure and apply statistical analysis to evaluate the vibration level as well as control measures of vibration.

LO5:   Evaluate and determine the comfort criteria for noise and vibration exposure.
