The aim of this course is to provide the students with an understanding of the theoretical concepts behind instrumentation and control system elements. This course will presents some of the how elements of instrumentation and control system are operated and designed. This course also covers modelling of mechanical systems; time and frequency responses analysis, stability analysis; control system analysis and design using PID controller and state space techniques. Software such as and Dasylab and Matlab will be used in this course.

By the end of semester, students should be able to:

LO1: Design the virtual instrumentation system to acquire data from transducer and analyse the data in time and frequency domains

LO2: Understand the basic control system concepts and able to develop transfer function of linear time invariant (LTI) mechanical andelectromechanical systems

LO3: Design and analysis control system to achieve specified control system performances in time and frequency domains

LO4: Design and analysis control system to achieve specified control system performances using state variables
